Truth told, the Cuban Punch is more of a meal than a drink – but no Cuban party is complete without it! Be warned though, you’ll need a lot of ingredients to prepare the Cuban Punch, so make sure you prepare enough of this before you start to get into the ‘spirit’ of the occasion! Here’s what you need:
12 cloves and 1 cinnamon
the peeled skin of an orange and 2 lemons (note that you need to boil the lemons in a cup of water for 5 minutes before you add them to the punch)
the juice from 12 oranges and 12 lemons
2 ½ cups of sugar
1 quart of Bacardi, Sauterne, Cold Oolong tea and Apollinaris (that’s 1 quart of each of these, not all together)
You then combine all of these into a bowl in which you have plenty of ice. Make sure that you put the ice in the bowl before you put the combined mixtures of the drink. Serve to guests with a lapel.
